
Nutritious Holiday Baking: Guilt-Free Substitutions for Your Favorite Treats!
It’s the holiday season which means baking, baking AND MORE BAKING! However, eating baked goods does not mean that you have to abandon all of your nutrition and health goals until the holidays are over. Check out these substitutions that you can make in order to make more nutritious baked goods.

- Substitute 1 cup of heavy whipping cream with either 1 cup greek yogurt or 1 cup evaporated milk
- Substitute butter with mashed avocado (1 cup of butter = 1 cup of avocado)
- Substitute ¼ of all-purpose flour needed in the recipe with whole-grain flour
- Substitute 1 cup sugar with ½ cup sugar and ¾ cup applesauce

Black Bean Brownies Recipe
(Makes 8-10 Servings)
Ingredients:

- 1 Can of Black Beans (drained and rinsed)
- ¼ Cup Coconut Oil
- ½ Cup Coconut Sugar (can also use Truvia Blends just make sure follow the packaging information for proper amounts)
- ½ Cup Cocoa Powder
- 3 Eggs
- 1 Tsp Baking Powder
- ⅓-½ Cup Semi Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips

Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Add all ingredients except chocolate chips to the blender or bowl. Blend ingredients or hand mix slowly to form brownie batter.
- Add chocolate chips and blend into mixture. (Make sure to not overblend!)
- Pour batter into an 8×8 greased baking pan.
- Baked for approximately 30-35 minutes. Check the center to make sure it is cooked thoroughly before removing it from the oven.
